Last updated 28 April 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Lorraine, Lorraine Chat, and related products and services provided by Tin Works (Pty) Ltd T/A Lorraine AI. By creating an account, subscribing, or using the service, you agree to these terms.

If you use Lorraine on behalf of an employer, institution, practice, or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to do so and that your use complies with that organisation's rules and applicable law.

2. Eligibility and Account Responsibilities

Lorraine Chat is intended for healthcare professionals and supervised healthcare trainees. You must be at least 18 years old to use the service.

  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
  • You must provide accurate account, professional, and billing information.
  • You may not share your account or allow another person to use it.
  • You remain responsible for all activity under your account.

3. Lorraine Chat Clinical AI Use

Lorraine Chat provides AI-assisted clinical reasoning, education, workflow support, and reference support for clinicians. It is not an emergency service and is not a substitute for your professional judgment, direct patient assessment, local protocols, or authoritative clinical guidelines.

You are solely responsible for diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, triage, referral, counselling, documentation, and all other professional decisions. You must independently verify any output before using it in clinical practice.

4. User Content and Patient Information

You may submit prompts, de-identified clinical context, feedback, and related content to the service. You retain ownership of content you submit, but you grant Lorraine AI a licence to process it as needed to provide, secure, support, audit, debug, and improve the service in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

You must not enter directly identifying patient information into Lorraine Chat. This includes names, identification numbers, contact details, addresses, medical record numbers, file numbers, photographs, or other details that directly identify a patient. Use de-identified clinical context only and minimise rare or unique details that could reasonably re-identify a patient.

If you submit personal information despite this restriction, you confirm that you have a lawful basis and all required authority to do so, and you remain responsible for complying with POPIA, professional confidentiality duties, employer policies, and any applicable healthcare laws.

5. AI Output Limitations

AI-generated output may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, biased, hallucinated, or unsuitable for a particular patient or setting. Outputs may contain errors in differential diagnosis, treatment plans, medication guidance, dosing, contraindications, referral advice, calculations, citations, or summaries.

Lorraine AI does not guarantee that any output is clinically correct, current, complete, or appropriate. You must cross-check outputs against authoritative sources and local clinical requirements.

6. Subscriptions, Payment, and Access

Lorraine may offer free and paid plans. Free plans may include message limits, feature limits, or access restrictions. Paid subscriptions are billed through third-party payment processors such as Paystack.

  • Subscriptions may renew automatically unless cancelled before renewal.
  • You may cancel your subscription through the available account or billing management tools.
  • Refund requests may be considered within 30 days of purchase unless otherwise stated at checkout or required by law.
  • Prices, limits, included features, and model availability may change with reasonable notice.

7. CPD Tracking

Lorraine Chat may track eligible learning activity for CPD-related records while approval or accreditation is pending. Tracking does not guarantee that any professional body, employer, regulator, or accreditor will recognise the activity as CPD.

You are responsible for confirming CPD eligibility, keeping required evidence, and complying with the requirements of your professional registration authority.

8. Acceptable Use

You may not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, bypass security or usage limits, reverse engineer the service, extract content at scale, use the service to train competing systems without permission, submit unlawful or harmful content, or use Lorraine in a way that violates professional duties or applicable law.

9. Intellectual Property

The service, software, models, prompts, workflows, interfaces, educational content, explanations, graphics, and related materials are owned by Tin Works (Pty) Ltd T/A Lorraine AI or its licensors and are protected by South African and international intellectual property laws.

You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access the service for your own professional and educational use. You may not reproduce, distribute, sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit our content or software without written permission.

10. Privacy and Security

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, retain, and share personal information. By using the service, you agree that your information may be processed as described in the Privacy Policy.

No online service can guarantee absolute security. You must promptly notify us if you suspect unauthorised access to your account or any security issue involving Lorraine.

11. Availability and Changes

We may update, suspend, limit, or discontinue any feature, model, plan, or service where necessary for security, compliance, maintenance, technical, commercial, or product reasons. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.

12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The service is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, Lorraine AI disclaims warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, clinical appropriateness, availability, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tin Works (Pty) Ltd T/A Lorraine AI will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or clinical outcome-related damages arising from use of or reliance on the service. Our total liability for claims relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim.
