Lorraine and Lorraine Chat are provided by Tin Works (Pty) Ltd T/A Lorraine AI.

2. Intended Audience and Purpose

Lorraine Chat is designed for healthcare professionals and supervised healthcare trainees. It provides AI-assisted clinical reasoning, education, workflow support, and reference support.

The service is intended to support, not replace, professional training, clinical judgment, direct patient assessment, local protocols, and authoritative guidelines.

3. Not Medical Advice or Emergency Care

Lorraine Chat is not an emergency service and should not be used where urgent assessment, emergency intervention, or immediate escalation is required.

Outputs are not a diagnosis, prescription, treatment order, referral decision, or substitute for clinician responsibility. Clinicians remain responsible for all patient care decisions.

4. Clinician Responsibility

Before relying on any output, you must independently verify it against appropriate clinical sources, local policies, medicines information, patient-specific factors, contraindications, allergies, laboratory data, and applicable professional standards.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Lorraine complies with POPIA, professional confidentiality duties, employer policies, registration authority rules, and applicable healthcare laws.

5. AI Limitations

AI-generated content can be incomplete, outdated, hallucinated, biased, or wrong. Lorraine Chat may make errors in differential diagnosis, treatment planning, medication guidance, dosing, contraindications, calculations, red flags, referral advice, citations, or guideline summaries.

We do not guarantee that outputs are accurate, complete, current, clinically appropriate, or suitable for a particular patient, facility, country, specialty, or scope of practice.

6. Patient Information

Lorraine Chat is designed for de-identified clinical context. Do not enter directly identifying patient information, including names, identification numbers, contact details, addresses, file numbers, medical record numbers, photographs, or other details that directly identify a patient.

Use the minimum clinical information needed for the question and avoid rare or unique details that could reasonably re-identify a patient.

7. Regulatory Status

Unless a specific feature is expressly identified as certified, approved, or registered, Lorraine Chat is not presented as a registered medical device, in vitro diagnostic device, or regulated clinical decision system. It should not be used to independently diagnose, treat, monitor, or prevent disease.

If any future feature obtains a specific approval, certification, or regulatory status, that status and its limits will be identified separately.

8. CPD Status

Lorraine Chat may track eligible learning activity for CPD-related records while approval or accreditation is pending. Tracking does not guarantee that any professional body, employer, regulator, or accreditor will recognise the activity as CPD.

Users are responsible for confirming CPD requirements with their professional registration authority and retaining any required evidence.

9. Non-Affiliation

Lorraine AI is independent. Unless expressly stated in writing, we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA), any CMSA member college, university, medical school, professional registration authority, regulator, examination board, hospital group, employer, or government body.

Names of third-party organisations, examinations, guidelines, medicines, products, or services may be used descriptively only and remain the property of their respective owners.

10. Liability and No Warranties

The service is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, Tin Works (Pty) Ltd T/A Lorraine AI disclaims warranties of accuracy, completeness, currency, fitness for a particular purpose, clinical appropriateness, availability, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lorraine AI will not be liable for clinical outcomes, professional decisions, errors, omissions, service interruptions, or reliance on any output.
