    The Primary examination assesses basic sciences relevant to maxillofacial surgery. It consists of three separate 3-hour papers covering Anatomy (100-150 SBA-MCQ's), Physiology (MCQ's and short essays), and Principles of Pathology including Microbiology (MCQ's and short essays). No oral examination is required for this part.

    FIN

    The FCORL(SA) Final examination assesses advanced knowledge, clinical reasoning, judgement, insight and decision-making required to safely practice as an independent ENT/Head and Neck specialist. It includes written SBA papers covering the entire field of otorhinolaryngology and a clinical examination with structured oral case-based discussions using paper, video and image-based scenarios.

    Intermediate

    INT

    The Intermediate examination assesses Principles of Surgery and Oral Pathology. For Principles of Surgery, there is a 3-hour essay paper (150 marks) plus a 30-minute oral if written is passed (60% weight written, 40% oral). For Oral Pathology, there is a 3-hour essay paper (150 marks), plus a practical examination on histopathology identification and interpretation (30% weight), plus an oral examination (20% weight) - both conditional on passing the written component.
