HPCSA CPD tracking, built in
The scoring logic Lorraine Chat uses to convert reasoned clinical queries into CPD-compatible evidence logs — and why we chose this over a separate CPD product.

Every HPCSA-registered clinician needs 30 CPD points a year, 5 of them in ethics. Most clinicians earn them by attending lunchtime talks and logging them on paper — then scrambling at the end of the cycle when the audit lands. There is a better way: the reading and reasoning you already do should count.
What counts
Chat logs every reasoned clinical query — a differential, a guideline lookup, a drug interaction check — as structured CPD evidence. The record includes the clinical question, the cited sources, and the time spent. Queries that are genuinely educational count toward your annual requirement; throwaway admin queries do not.
How the scoring works
We apply HPCSA category-1 self-directed learning rules. Queries with at least two peer-reviewed citations and evidence of reflection earn points on the category-1 scale. A running tally sits in your account; export to a signed PDF at cycle end.
Why we built this in
We considered a separate CPD product. We decided the better answer was to ship it inside Chat: the reasoning is the evidence, and the clinician does not need to remember to log anything. The best CPD tool is the one that disappears into the work.
